Mike’s Ramblings…

Marena CEO in the news: Everyday Shapewear & Activewear

Read and watch here! Vera Watkins appeared on ABC15 (Arizona) and discussed our exciting Marena Everyday Line. http://www.abc15.com/content/style/fashion/story/Clothes-that-claim-to-slim-you-down-for-good/cJI2xhDNUEa3Gc0X1g8CKQ.cspx

Smooth Symposium with a great focus on Branding!

The Marena Team showed that we can entertain, learn, dance and have a blast with some of the brightest plastic surgery professionals in our industry and keep our Lawrenceville plant buzzing! The daily company dance was fun to show our guests how we get down daily (well at least the floor team does, I get out only about once a week). I bring in the decks and spin late on Fridays! That would be fun! Anyway, we had a great time with our symposium attendees, see the pics here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/29699506@N03/sets/72157623845863304/

2010

Haven’t heard any ideas from MD’s or staff yet on how Marena can make garments easier for them. Let’s make ‘10 easier!

Proposed direction for 2010

“How can Marena help your practice in regards to compression garments?” It’s all about simplifying and patient compliance. #FB

Watch out Adobe, Picasa 3 made my boss a pro!

Composing a collage of pics from our ASPSN sock-hop dance is a real pain in any Adobe product.  The co-founder of Marena, Vera, totally showed me up and then showed me how a free program is SOOOO much faster, easier and better than a high priced graphics program.  WOW!  Picasa 3 is so powerful!

Seattle ASPS, PSAA and ASPSN have passed, but the fun is just starting!

We did more this year, had a larger space, brought more people and worked the floor harder to have less leads than last year?!  How can this be?  Okay, so down economy shmonomy~!  I don’t care if the plastic surgery industry is down 30-40%, I still want to perform better than last year, is that wrong?  So I consul myself with the mantra “quality over quantity” looping in my brain.  This point may be very true.  Last year we had lines forming several times to see what we where doing (ballroom dancing and giving to a children’s charity).  This year our interactions were much deeper.  We had time to talk, not worried about the two MDs who just walked up, like I was last year.

We had a greater reach in our PR that’s for sure.  The ASPSN was “WOWED” by Bill Watkins key not address, and Terrell Abney left them crying and connected with his closing presentation on keeping it positive.  Bill also had two other presentation that were well received and we had a 50’s sock-hop dance for the ASPSN, it ROCKED!  Now rolling these touches over into business is not an easy task, but the exposure of our key team members to the general bodies of these organizations is priceless!

So, I have been burning the midnight oil with Ara, my US sales director, working to follow up and ensure that Marena gets the most out of our time with these awesome organizations.  Let’s Get’r Done!

Pansies need not apply! Customer Advocates Wanted!

We are continuing to grow and need caring, passionate people who will fight for the rights of our customers.  You might think in this economy we would have individuals willing to do anything to work for a growing, awesome company like Marena, but we have found otherwise.   Our society of entitlement might be realizing the results of our actions in the workplace…I say this because when I first entered into the workforce in the early 90’s, I would do whatever it took, whatever my employer asked…I would do it!  All within the law of course!  But we have had several individuals not pass our evaluation period due to lack of ambition, dedication, and overall intestinal fortitude!  In today’s economy you will eat, or be eaten.  As we strive for excellence internally and externally, privately and in business, I am surprised at the lack of dedication shown by applicants.  One told me, “I hate goals”.  Other said “I don’t want to sell”…what?  Are you serious?  Are you not here today selling yourself to me???  Again, pansies need not apply!   Only the best should take care of our customers!
